Save Money and Still Show You Care

Whether it's Mother's Day, a birthday, or the holidays, you don't have to spend a lot to get a thoughtful gift for Mom. When it comes to gift giving, never has the expression "it's the thought that counts" held more truth than shopping for your mother.

However, if you want to keep it on the inexpensive side, take that extra step to get a thoughtful gift. With a little looking you will find thousands of possibilities, so consider what your Mom needs and what she will appreciate getting from you.

Jewelry

Beautiful jewelry doesn't have to be expensive, and when shopping for mom, remember that real feeling outweighs solid gold. Find out about the styles and colors your mother likes and shop for those with lower price material and stone types.

Bracelets and earrings tend to be cheaper than rings or necklaces. You can bring personal warmth with a pendant that has pictures of loved ones in it. If you are unsure what your mom likes in jewelry or she already has a lot of it, consider a jewelry travel case or a personalized jewelry box with pictures of grandchildren.

Kitchen and Home

It is never true that you have to spend a lot to get a useful gift. Surprise your mom with something she could really use around the home or kitchen.

An inexpensive saute pan she really needs may be far more appreciated that an expensive, decorative gift she can't use.

Fragrant soaps and colorful towels are special yet useful. Take note of the "I could use" phrases your mom drops and spend your money on something she might have bought herself anyway.

Personalized Gifts

You can have digital pictures of family members put on almost anything, from coffee mugs to personalized calendars. Beyond a picture frame, the most inexpensive item becomes a thoughtful gift when the smiling family members in her life are a part of it.

Flowers

Roses are wonderful, but they are rarely the cheapest choice in flowers. Likewise, the florist will have the freshest, most elegant arrangements at the highest price.  Save money by heading to the supermarket for flowers, and choose based on what looks fresh and alive, not type.

If you are on a budget, flower delivery can work both ways. If you live near mom, save your money for a nice dinner. If she is far away and you can't be there, flower delivery can be a thoughtful and relatively inexpensive way to deliver a gift.
